Hello all,
I have finally re-listed after my move =
from Seattle
to Vermont. My bus ('91 syncro westy) made the trip no =
problem.
However, after not very long after the trip I began hearing what =
sounded
like lifter clacking (like you hear at start up) which did not go away =
for a
while. Then it progressed to a very loud clack and I stopped =
driving
it. Anyway, I pulled the valve cover and rocker arms and have =
found what I
think is the problem. Two of the four lifters on the left bank are =
soft to
the push of my thumb. They are squishy. As I understand it =
from
Bentley, this is not right. So, I also understand from =
Bentley
that removal and replacement of the push rod tubes and lifters can be =
done with
out removing anything more than the rockers and the old push rod =
tube. I
assume you will likely destroy the old tube taking it out right?
But a new one can be inserted with out removing the head? =
This would
save so much hassle if it were true.
Any comments that I am on the right =
track etc. etc.
would be appreciated. Thanks y'all!
Great to be =
back.
By the way what's the latest on the 5- =
cylinder
conversions ! ?
