It seems that your a perfectionist, in this case why don't you cruise the
junkyards and build your own. Buy a 90 (or so), rebuild the engine, pick up
a Westy or Weekender interior and you have what you want. Also you know what
its history is. Granted this will be a project and nickel and dime you but
its far less expensive.

When considering mine there was a 85 for $500 and I could have picked up a
camping interior for another 300. Figure another 3,000 for rebuild and other
parts. Just under 4,000 you have a great van, and if your married you get to
here about the "clunker" up on jacks for however long it takes you to get it
on the road :-) Thats the real plus.

I opted for simplicity: no PS, AC, waterpump. Just a aircooled westy that I
can stack kayaks on and go to the river. No trip preparation... all food,
etc... always keept in the camper. And I have no fear of driving it through
a creek and trashing it.
