There was a Syncro Westy for sale last week in the Yosemite area for $4,000. (probably gone). That was a very unusual price. Tell your friend to expect to pay between $15,000 and $25,000 for a nice Syncro Westy out on this side of the Continental Divide. (Maybe he'll be jealous of your $800 price, too!). If price is no object, and he wants one quickly, he could try J & R in Reno, NV. They usually have a couple for sale at all times, usually in the $20,000 to $27,000 range. A Syncro Westy for less that $10,000 that was in "OK" shape would be no bargain, IMHO, as it could be VERY expensive to get it up to snuff if not well-maintained. (transmission, CV-joints, VC, exhaust system, etc. etc. etc. are all either more numerous, or more expensive on a Syncro.) You could easily burn through $5,000 on replacing worn-out parts. Please note that I do not speak for prices in other parts of the country, as I have no first-hand knowledge. Hi, I just bought an '84 Westy for $800, solid, but has a leaker on the left side and the blower motors are shot. My buddy saw it and became jealous of my heat and a/c and want to sell his '78 Westy and go all the way and get a Westy Sycro. He would like it in good condition, standard transmission, a/c, of course and service records. We are in PA, but has his son looking in CA, so anywhere is possible. John
