If any coolent/water was sprayed from driving, back to the alternator this will explain the ox & alt light coming on. They both share the same power source, and when shorted to ground through water the lightS come on usually dim. Once it dries the lights should go dimmer and eventually off. When you wash the engine this happens on all Volkswagens.
