Frank,

Try removing and cleaning the grounds. I'm not familiar with the 2.1 litre motor that you have in your '86, but on a 1.9 litre there's a whole bunch of them fastened under a 6mm bolt (10mm wrench) on the left cylinder head (front is front) over the #4 cylinder.
