If it does not have a refrigerator and stove it is probably the Weekend Edition. If the van is as clean as you say, that price might not be bad. I would try to get it for $5000~$5900. How does it drive? Engine smooth? Also take a look around the heads to make sure there is no leaking anti-freeze.

If I were purchasing a new vanagon, my primary concern would be the condition of the exterior and interior of the vehilce with the engine being a distant second. You may always purchase a new engine, but finding those custom Westfalia interior parts, carpeting, and side panels is much more difficult. Sounds like yours is in great shape.
