Sounds like what a friend of mine told me a couple of weeks ago (he owns a '75 Baja Bug.) His encounters with water-cooled owners on the road have given him the impression that they are a bunch of stuck-up snobs who look down on those who have "mere" air-cooled dubs with some sort of contempt. He says they rarely wave at him and sometimes seem to think he's crazy for behaving in a friendly manner toward other drivers.

I suppose it goes both ways.

Personally, I love all of 'em. I don't have an aircooled because I'm really sensitive (and I mean really; thin skin can have associated problems!) to getting hot or cold easily, and since most aircooleds don't have a/c ... well. I'd love an original Type2 but I'd die of heatstroke in the summertime and frost in the winter. But I don't think there's a prettier 'dub than a lovely splittie, breadloaf, or original '60s classic Beetle with a lovely restojob. I've even ridden in an aircooled '81 westy and a lovely, unrestored (!) orange Ghia... (calling one Nate, bet you're not still here after all this time, are ya?)

Can't wait for my '90 westy with a/c. :)
