Gerry, As a point of reference, I recently purchased a setup with an LCD screen and a VCR. I purchased the components separately after having looked into those Backpack units that fit between the two front seats. I wanted to keep the floor space clear, so by stowing the VCR in the overhead, hooking up the sound to the little speakers in there and mounting an LCD screen just below seems to be the way to go for me. Depending on how close you mount it, you shouldn't really need more than a 4 or 5 inch screen, though if the LCD isn't facing you directly, it can appear distorted. I imagine that it'll all pay off when I bring the kids in their first long trip. Considering all the deals on mobile electronics on ebay, I paid considerably less for my system than you'll find in a store anywhere (~$250). Vince 85 Westy

I am interested in taking a TV/VCR combo on long trips for evening entertainment. Does anyone have any suggestions? I was thinking about buying one of those AC/DC converters that plug into the lighter and then using a regular 13" TV rather than buying one of those 9" AC/DC jobs. Obviously, this would not be a problem in a campground with electrical hookup. Would this drain the battery down more than the AC/DC combo? Would this necessitate getting a second battery?

Gerry
