Of course I did not do it. I just went into our VW dealer to have some work done. New cooling pipes and while there got a new distributor and had the timing adjusted. Plenty of power for me. I can cruise at 85 mph with no trouble at all (not up hill of course.) I also had the shift linkage cleaned and re greased. What a difference! I doubt most vanagon users know how easy the shifting can be with good maintenance to the shifting linkage. The gears slip in almost without effort now. had the mechanic not recommended it I would never have known how smooth it can be.

WOW! what a delima. More power and reliability(newer/low miles).VS The loyalty to your trusty vanagon. I assume you didn't do it? I would have been thinking hard (I hope my van didn't hear me!). See ya!
