I think it's a buyer's market out there right now for Syncros. I'm selling an 86' Syncro GL for $2900 (dropping price to $2600.00 today) with about the same mileage, although it had the drivetrain replaced approximately 30,000 miles ago. Most of the interested parties have been in the west or north west and shipping from Atlanta to there (around $900.00) has been a little too high. Six months ago I think I would have sold it quicker.

Sounds like you are looking at a pretty good deal if it runs good and rust is minimum. Mine has a small amount of surface rust (you have to look hard to see it) starting in one seam and along the rain gutter where the previous owner had installed snaps.

Hopefully, this gives you a comparison.

hi vanagon list.

so recently I became utterly enchanted with the volkswagon synchro.

ive found one relatively nearby (im in nyc, the synchro's in long island)

its an '87 with 208k miles on it. body is decent (little rust) seems to run okay, but I have only got the chance to check it out for a few minutes.

the owner seems like a nice guy, and the carfax report on it comes back ok.

the guy is asking $2800 for it.

anyone have an opinion on what its worth? any tips on things to watch out for? (ok, I read all about the head gaskets)

thanks for any feedback,

jh
