Whis is the 49 VW Convertible?

Vehicles newer than 1950 must be convertibles, sports cars, motorcycles or special interest vehicles approved by The Great Race Selection Committee. Allowed modern modifications include 12-volt electrics, any point-type distributor, overdrive units, auxiliary cooling systems and internal engine components. High performance modifications available during the year of manufacture of the vehicle are acceptable. Complete Authorized Modifications are included in the Entry Kit Special, which is available for $50 and includes ’95 ESPN (Canada to Mexico) video, 2001 and 2002 Yearbooks and Poster, (total value $70). 2003 Event Regulations will follow when published.

Hey guys how about a Classic VW van in the race? Might qualify under special interest.
