Just had the engine rebuilt. Both heads needed replacement. Mechanic could not believe that I was getting the mileage I was getting. One of the valves had a hole in it. Both heads had a gap (big crack) between the cylinders. Running just under $2500. At any rate, I am in the process of breaking in the engine and had some questions.

1) Someone descriped about breaking in the engine using a hill but I was unable to find the information. I would like to use a hill to break in the engine initially. Could someone copy me on the information/procedure for doing this?

2) With the new rebuilt engine, I would expect it not to accelerate as it used to. What seems funny right now is that sometimes it appears to try to start out as if it were in 3rd gear rather than 1st gear (this is an 84GL with a manual transmission). It also acts as if it has no advance but I would expect that this is the way it might act until it breaks in. What is normal for a newly rebuilt engine?
