AH HA!!!

That's got to be it! I've been having exactly the same high idle symptoms discussed in these various messages. Went through absolutely everything by the book and still have a mystery high idle every once in a while. Especially after coming off a long high speed(?) run. Sometimes I can kick it down and sometimes not. I remember now that when I was resetting the idle stop screw to spec that it seemed like it was trying to stick. Thanks Frank for reminding me of it. Anyone got a good price on a new throttle body?

I've still got a surging idle sometimes but I'm still chalking that one up to a vacuum leak I haven't found or a slow OXS. It's always rock solid when I'm working on it but then of course the surging thing will rear its ugly head when the back end is fully loaded and we're away from home. Typical!

Jeff Warner Galloway, OH VW stuff piling up on the lawn.

PS. Thanks also to Frank for the nice relay kit and bulbs.

Throttle body flap sticking. Remove the throttle body and look in the throat. Bet you find some grooves in the bottom where the flap has worn in. I have two of them here in that condition. Nothing can be done as far as I know except replace the throttle body with a good one.

Cheers
