I agree that the seller has the choice to set the lowest price, however, one of the attractions of selling things by auction is that people can become emotionally involved in an item. They begin by bidding a few dollars for an item, then, when someone else tops their bid, they become competitive. Sometimes bidding far more than they normally would. For this reason alone, I start all my auctions at $1.00 with no reserve (except for the few cars I've sold).

BTW: I'm not the one selling those rims, I already have a few sets.
