Well, let's see now, I got replies that: - my rad cap is bad (lack of pressure) - my heads are cracked and leaking exhaust into the coolant (I guess I could get an exhaust sniffer put to the overflow tank) - my rad is bad - my rad fan isn't working (which it is - I tested it, and it's coming on at the right spots) - my water pump is bad

I've also had a couple responses to just give it a few runs, and if there is air in the system, it will burp itself, so just keep an eye on the overflow tank level. Also, a couple of people said that it's pointless trying to get air out of the rad at idle, even when warm, because the water pump can't push much unless it's running at 2000 rpm at least. Which I guess could make sense. The van isn't overheating at idle, it just troubles me that it makes it all the way to the second fan speed at idle - that's a little too close to the "too hot" line for my comfort. So I'm still no closer to understanding than I was.
