Zoltan,

Yes, I understand the that some people might push this away. However I have fairly good proof of authorized VW dealership receipts showing my previous mileage and then receipts showing the new mileage 100,000 greater only a month later. VW even offered to fix my problem back when it occurred (for $300...) but I wasn't thinking straight at the time... I have all sorts of small problems that I am ironing out with the help of a good friend who is doing the work for free so we are hoping to get this annoying problem fixed... Thank you so much for offering to personally come out and help me. If I were Seattle that would be awesome! Unfortunately for me I am on Martha's Vineyard Island off Massachusetts... Because neither my friend nor no how to take apart the Speedo we are afraid of damaging it... Is that the only way?

Thank for your reply Zoltan, -Chris

There is an answer to this, but you have to understand that now you are dealing with some kind of irregular thing that may or may not be welcome to deal with for some law abiding citizens.  The speedometer is always a touchy issue.  It is a federal offence if I am not mistaken, to deal with it.  The last time I have gotten one repaired for $60 at a place where they do these things all the time.  I don't know why yours turned over an extra number when it should not have, but to put it back where it was, I think is not all that difficult if you want to figure it out.  I may come and help you with it if you are living in the Seattle area.
