I have seen all too many times vans come in my shop with the wrong lead wires for the installed distributor cap and coil. There are two distributor caps & coils available, one intended for the 1.9 engine and one intended for the 2.1 engine. They are interchangeable. The interface connection for the lead wires are different. If you install the wire leads for the 1.9 cap & coil in the 2.1 cap & coil or vice versa you will get arcing at the connections and thereby arcing at the rotor which is what is destroying the rotor. The best scenario is to use the 2.1 cap with its positive connect porcelain end lead wires. If you install the 2.1 cap & lead wires on the 1.9 then you MUST change the end of the lead wire to the coil to the connector for the 1.9 system coil. Always use dielectric grease on the lead wire connections and boots making sure the boots are a snug fit.

Cheers
