Everybody says they don't cook in the van except for coffee. Perhaps the Westy should have come with a coffee maker and a camp stove? Doug, I agree! In fact my Vanagon Interior remodeling project will: Put the water tank along the floor, under the rear seat. I will also have an extra gas tank below the water tank. This puts the weight dead center, and looses the Westy lean. (Yes, I've considered safety.) These tanks will be 4 inches thick, and run the full length of the seat. They will have baffles, and will be welded from aluminum. Should hold about ten gallons each. (maybe a little less, you do the math :) There will still be about 8 inches above the tanks & below the seat, for storage. I will keep the sink, for washing up, but the stove will be that three burner one from Cabela's (if I can get it to fit) and will be removable. I will have a small propane tank w/snap on fittings. In fact, I think I will loose the Fridge as well. I have never used it, except to store my CD's in. (that I-Pod deal sounds pretty good!) And, I use a cooler anyway. Then I will have 6 Drawers built in by our local cabinet maker. (to match existing cabinets) Plenty of storage. Also, I will loose the rear heater, and use the hot water hoses there, to run a copper tubing coil through the water tank, to heat the water to about 104 degrees, for an outside shower and for the sink. ( I take along one of the 2 1/2 gallon bottles of spring water to drink ) I will install an RV Furnace where the original water tank was. Oh yeah, Coffee Pot. A nice one. Automatic, drip, on a timer. ( Waking up to the sweet smell of freshly brewed Grommet Coffee !!!! Ahhhh !!!!! This is living !!!! :) Either 120 volts run through an inverter, or one of the 12 volt models. As you can tell, I really hate to climb in & out of the bus, trying to cook supper! not to mention the grease on the curtains and the smells. best, John C. SLC, UT...
