Subject: Piranha LED taillights
Content-type: text/plain; format=flowed; charset=us-ascii

Has anyone tried fitting Piranha LED taillights to their van? These are circular units, about 90mm diameter, sold for big rigs. I just noticed them today in an autoelectrical shop. They are available in red (tail/brake combined) and orange; they are inquiring for me as to whether white is available (reverse).

These are ideal for me, despite their price of $30US each, as I was thinking of Skyline-style double-donut taillights for my Caravelle.

To fit these I'd pull the stock lights and make up an acrylic or similar clear-smoked (or maybe satin black) rear panel to fil the depression under the tailgate, and put in 2 pairs of red lights and one of orange... and one of white if available. I would look at painting black discs in the centers to make them resemble Skyline lights (tack black card in first to ensure they are still bright & look good).

Anyone know if they ARE available in white?

To fit you cut a hole and press-fit the rubber surround, then push the waterproof light in.
