I also highly recommend the UK publication "VW Transporter 1982 to 1990" (their watercooled Vanagon manual) by Haynes. Great pictures, and a "fault finding" section that points to the same symptoms and causes that occur so often on our busses, and agree mostly on repair recommendations with our resident gurus. $26 well spent (Bus Depot)
