Yes you do have one.... and you also have a thermo time switch

, those 2 work together...., if the connection to the TTS is faulty, the CSS
doesn't inject fuel...

Also, be sure that the fuel pump relay is working.... on aircooled it does't
inject fuel BEFORE you start the engine but at the same time....

I may be mixed up in years a model, he he he.... i have a 78, a 82, an a 75
in the garage....???? anyway, what i am sure is some Vanagon have a CSS

I will check later today on all van...just to be sure.... what i remember is
that the thermo time switch as different shape and location depending on
years... and i can also tell you that lately, 2 Bus's had that problem, but
only the connector / wire was faulty
