I heard Terry K talk about Penetrol as well. However, I went a different route.

While my maroon top was a bit faded, the basic color was still good (as noticed when it got wet.) So I waxed it. A good carnuba wax job (hand paste wax). I like to use Butcher Clear Wax (as opposed to yellow). It went on reasonably easily, and though it faded a little as the wax dried, it still looks much better than before. Sheds water and helps protect things in general anyway.
