Subject: Anyone using H&R lowering springs on a 2WD Westy?

I need some feedback and / or advice please. Just installed these H&R springs on a customer's 2WD Westy-Tiico, lowering the van a good 2 inches [at his request, not my choice]. The front springs look very much like the original VW ones except shorter. The rears, on the other hand, are shaped differently on each end than the OEM ones, and do not really fit into either the upper or lower insulators properly. The rears are also compressed at rest to a point where the coils are all against one another except for the very last one-one and a half. Rides 'ok', but at almost every sharp turn or going into the driveway the rears go 'KLUNK' once, sometimes a smaller clunk after. Very annoying, I'll tell you. So...has anyone else here installed these, and how does this experience compare with yours? Am I missing some key 'extra part' here? I can't give the customer his van back with noises like this! Thanks for any input!
