Our Vanagons are too old to be on the "List" for Dexron III but Dexron, Dexron II, or Dexron III is what Vanagon automatic transmissions and power steering systems use. In fact, Dexron III is what I've been using for years in my '84 automatic. It's also what I recently put into my '85's power steering when I flushed the system and replaced the leaking steering rack.
