Which strut to install depends on many factors. Placement, load, angle of action. That's why no one has the perfect answer.

I just posted pictures of what I did. Each of these gas springs is the maximum pressure for this size (250 pounds, in a 40" strut.) Had I installed in a different fashion (for example putting the base further forward, maintaining the same location to attach to the fiberglass top), the pressure needed would have been vastly less.

Curiously the reason I added these had more to do with bring the top DOWN, then raising it. You see, when you add a few hundred pounds up top, when you lower the poptop, it can drop DOWN on your head with a lot of force. Adding these struts allows for a nicely controlled lowering (just like stock) even with the 200+ pounds up there.
