I've had experiance with 2 very differant AC dash housings.

my 1980 ASI camper was shipped as a base transporter and converted. I do not know if that matters but that would NOT take a heter core. it's a odd 2 piece unit. We had a 1980 westfalia with indash fan (defog) that used a heater distribution box thats an exact of the later H2o variety but with the hose outlets not opened up

so yes if your looks JUST LIKE a H2o unit. you will have no problems adapting it to accept a heater core. there is a small knock out for the core to pass it's hose nipples thru and you can just hook up hoses then at a later time.

keep in mind there are 2 differant routings of heater hoses. (early & late) so when you get those you will need all of the parts.

I had some difficulty in the cables. just gettiing them set up and in place with the small jumble of cables I had as parts/cores. there are also variations in the slider controls. you'll likely just reuse your stock one. as it already connects to the distributiuon box.

I configured my cables on 1 slider (defog to floor) control. it's nice but I have NO method to entirely close the incoming air only where to direct it. up down or mix.

as for it being warmer out.. Pshaw.. forcast is for -2f on the commute tomorrow morning here in winter wonderland of Upstate NY buried under 100+inches of winter accumulation the camper is snug in it's shed till mother's day.

Hi all.

It's warmer outside, the birds are tweeting. Time to get busy, and get dash job completed. On that note.... I want to install a front heater core for future engine conversion toa Wasser. Currently have stock air cooled heater box PN: 251.259.113 It appears (Bentley) that Flap Housing is similar for AC and Wasser. Can a stock Wasser heater core be installed into AC Flap Housing?

If so..... Where is best place to drill (if needed) holes for heater core hoses? I'll double check to see if those holes are already there from factory. I imagine I could run heater core hoses down through stock AC heat conduit. Thanks for any help! - Neil Nicholson. 1981 Air Cooled Westfalia.
