I just got done pulling mine, redid the flaps replaced the motor and added sound insulation.

I found the info on BTDT was about all I needed for pulling the dash. The only little confusing put I found was if you've got an early model vanagon. all 4 of the mounting screws for the heater box are on inside. The later model van the bottom two screws are on the outside by the headlights. <http://www.vanagonauts.com/Heater-Blower-R&- R118.htm>
