That was Charlie Ford, IIRC, I remember reading about his travels on the type2 list. FWIW, my earliest recollection of any VW bus site was the the Westfalia Owners site. I found it back around 1996-97(?) when I was looking for a Vanagon. All the horror stories there about the leaky heads convinced me at the time to go air cooled. Westfalia Owners was a pretty good site until some guy who called himself "Captain Mike" took over as moderator. By that time I had found the type2 list. I also remember driving up to PA to look at a Westy that was listed for sale on Westfalia Owners classified section. Didn't buy it, but the seller told me of his plans to start an Internet business selling VW parts - that would be Ron of the Bus Depot.         Jeff 








Road Trip Visitor - someone mentioned a road trip with a guy and his dog. He stayed with us for a night. He was celebrating his 40th birthday by taking a round the country road-trip. Forgot his first name, but last name was Ford. He had a beagle with him. He was traveling in a 78 bus. Along the route he put together a diary on the internet. A couple of years ago I ran across the site, but this morning I couldn't find it. At the time he stayed with us, my son Alex was a toddler and drove Mr. Ford crazy. Tragically, the dog got hit by a car while en-route.
