Thanks for all the updates!
I agree with Roger on "painting tires" however I understand that vintage
vehicles with original tires are so badly curb-rashed, there are some
products that are similar to the original black "tint" that the rubber
in the tires go through during the initial process that you can coat
back on the tires to bring them back to new.

Forever Black suggested by Roland looks really good, however it's
impossible to find up here in Canada, and Shipping it is really
expensive for some reason. New (slightly used) tires may be the way to
go instead... it might be a blessing in disguise! Van "Halen" is the
"wedding limo" for a good friend in a week, so I am trying to get her in
as good of shape as possible before then.
Thanks again to everyone.
James.

dear tire tart
Painting a tire with "Paint" is considered to be a very bad idea
in most of the circles i have traveled in
paint has qualities that react badly when joined with tires ...
from what i have been told ... (when i used to work at a General
Tire Store)
the paint will cause deterioration of the sidewall and weather
checking ...
i have heard the same thing about Amour All for tires ... but i
have no consistent experience with that stuff...
used it once or twice ...and then an exceptional state of
indolence set in ..
i have almost recovered fully from this ...
and now periodically wash my westie

Hey Volks,
Here's an odd question for everyone. I am looking at
sprucing up my tires. The sidewalls have taken a fairly good beating,
but the treads are still in good shape, so I don't want to purchase 4
new tires right now. Has anyone used any sort of paint to return the
tires to a nice black? I have looked online and found some discussion
in regards to Miller's paint (http://www.millertire.com/), and as well
using Eastwood's Underbody Latex protectant
Has anyone had a chance to try either of these, or do
you have a better solution?
