dear used

a diesel starter ... this would be as opposed to the electric ones used to start indy race cars you must have some mill in that machine ... how big is it ... do you have to stand clear after start to make starter person safe

i had some freinds who built a race cart out of boiler tube and a vw engine they had a transmission out of some three speed something or another they found in the woods and ran that transmission shaft off a timing chain that had a timing chain gear mounted on both the input of the tranny and the flywheel of the engine ... i cant recall the clutch details . ... indeed it may not even have had a clutch as such ... anyway ... to start this beast ... one had to either push it in gear or jack up the rear and wrap a rope around the extra rim welded onto the rear drive rim ...

then drop it down and the machine would launch ... upon reflection a diesel starter would have been a much more interesting addition to the set up and the mix of years that this contraption was ... (and you tell this to young fellows today and they wouldnt believe you) (cue monty python) yours
