the only time I have had hot air being a problem in the summer in a vanagon
is when the cable is adjusted incorrectly.
on one recently...I was careful to put the cable right back where I thought
it had been.
Guy said some heat still.
so I adjusted the cable so it was 10 % extra off.
perhaps it'll only reach 90 % on now ..
but the guy is happy now with no heat coming in.
might try that.
