Well, I don't know why you think it is not necessary. Perhaps it is not strictly necessary, in that you won't die because you don't. But you'll get more even tire wear if you do. For most of us, it costs nothing, why not do it?

Why do you have larger tires on the rear than on the front? What benefit do you believe you are getting from that?
