Alain,

There is a minor improvement in the Vanagon-Syndrome-Air-Flow-Meter-Fix Harness in the "A" version.

Both versions use an operational amplifier (op-amp) along with 6 or 7 resistors and capacitors in a circuit that stabilizes the signal from the AFM. The "A" version has an additional capacitor in the circuit, assumably an attempted improvement in the stabilization.

Some have had some level of success with a simple capacitor wired between the connections to the AFM (Google "vanagon syndrome capacitor fix"). While this may fix some of the symptoms of "Vanagon Syndrome", I suspect the VW fix may be a more "complete" solution.

I like the comfort of having one of the VW Fix harnesses in my Vanagons. It is very unnerving when you experience the bucking of Vanagon Syndrome, especially in situations like heading up to the Sierras over I-80 for a ski weekend with snow blowing, trucks passing, and the van packed to the gills with family and ski equipment. That is not a good time to simply pull over and restart the engine to pause the Vanagon Syndrome effects! That happened to our family some years ago, and I still get a pit in my stomach thinking about it.
