hi all, we would like to thank all the people that responded to our first mail( the baha one), it is a pleasure to have this type of forum for our fabulous vanagons. the van seems to be running well, plenty of power (not like my buddies big block econoline, but it goes good), feels good on the hiway, and is a joy to cruise around in. we have noted from scouring the archives that the viscous coupling seems to be the vastly expensive and unique part to go wrong. how does a bad vc manifest itself, and, what are the other major items to look out for? we want to prepare the van for an extended (3 month?) voyage, on which we will rely on it for getting us out of whatever really good spot(remote) we can find. the van doesn't appear to have been abused, but also does not seem to have received top quality care. any suggestions? thanks in advance, moon & brenda 86 GL Syncro (yay!)
