Dieter - My younger brother painted his first car ('56 Buick STW) with enamel & a brush, when he turned 16, back in '67. Heck, it looked damn good from a distance, too.

Just for the heck of it, I painted me old '62 Kombi, back in vet school, with a brush, but I took more pride in the work than Brother John and used lacquer (before I realized that the poor little ole lac bug was rapidly becoming extinct!) since that was what I had read Rolls-Royce body-folks do! I used "mother-of-pearl white" and put 14 coats on, with light rub-out between each coat. Of course, the painting was much easier than the body work! The paint job looked great, but EVERY ripple/bump/minute hole in the body showed up well. I rationalized it as giving the next person who wanted to try to make it look good a great "road map" to ALL the flaws in the body work I tried to perform!!!
