Christy, that flue is for the refrigerator. The stove exhausts to the inside of the van. It sounds to me as though you simply have a cover over the hole in the side of the van -- what should be there is a vented stainless cap which covers the combustion air inlet and exhaust from the reefer. This is a very specific piece of gear, and the refrigerator is approved for safety only with this exact fitting (gas only, 12v or 110 needs no venting). I can get more specific if you need it -- for a start, the refrigerator is a Dometic RM182B. Made in Belgium, but Dometic is a US company. I think this model was made specifically for the Westy -- the reefer manual shows a Westy installation.
