Eric, the stick shift lever thingy is the same on both Syncro and 4-speed, while the 5-speed is different. I broke mine, and drove home in 2nd gear. Luckily it was only 3 or 4 miles. I also plunked down the $80 to get a new stick, rather than get a used one that maybe was likely to break, just as mine did. The stick lasted 175000 km
