Michael Radtke wrote: Mark, I am probably showing my ignorance here, but on which side of the oil filter is the oil pressure measured? Thanks, Mike '84 GL '60 Vespa Mike- I am making my conclusion based upon the dreadful sound that came from the instrument console. My manual indicates that it will sound when oil pressure drops below a (specific, but unknown to me) threshold. I only get the screaming banshee from the instrument console (along with the illuminated idiot light) when using Fram at highway speed (per my earlier post). So if you you are showing your ignorance by your post, I am confirming mine here! Given a 50/50 chance of being right (the pressure is either measured before of after the filter point), I would guess that the determination (triggering the idiot light/banshee) is made after the filter and the filter's resistance to flow could cause a pressure drop that is unsuitable, if the filter impedes flow too much (?). Not sure. I only trust (but avoid) the banshee! -- Mark A. Williamson Denver, CO 88 Wolfsburg Weekender (135K)
